Awal Bank has established a diversified network of correspondent banking relationships. These are maintained and developed by ithe Bank's Financial Institutions Department. The department has two dedicated units, one is responsible for all conventional financial institutions, and the other covers Islamic financial institutions. As a whole, the department has responsibility for the expansion and improvement of the Bank’s relationships with all other financial counterparties.

A key strategic aim of the Bank is to broaden its funding base, increasing the number of financial institutions with which it works.
